WoodMan 20 Minutes of Oxygen The Bar
Mike Jackson is a visual story-teller, an Emmy-nominated editor and award-winning director.
Mike's editing on the CBS / History Channel documentary Beyond Top Secret was nominated for a News and Documentary Emmy. He directed the award-winning short WoodMan, a Crazy8s film inspired by Pinnochio, which was nominated for 6 LEO Awards (winning Best Make-up), played in 30 film festivals, and won Best Short Drama and the Audience Choice Award at the Sonoma Film Festival, Best Fantasy / Sci-Fi Short at the Deep in the Heart Film Festival, a Van Gogh Award for International Short Filmmaking, and the "Coup de Coeur" Award at the Festival du Film Merveilleux in Paris.
Mike's comedy short The Bar was nominated for two LEO awards, as well as winning the first annual Hot Shot Shorts competition and Best Comedy at the Sea to Sky Film Festival. His music video 20 Minutes of Oxygen for The Darkest of the Hillside Thickets was nominated for a Golden Sheaf award (Yorkton Film festival), and he was an associate producer on Family Portrait in Black & White, which played Sundance and won Best Canadian Feature at HotDocs.
Mike also edited the zombie/action feature Dead Rising: Watchtower for Legendary Pictures, and the pilot for Mech-X4 for Disney XD, both directed by Zach Lipovsky.
Along with directing and editing, Mike has extensive experience in colour correction and visual effects. He and co-writer Sam Dulmage won Second Place Horror Screenplay in the International Horror Sci-Fi Screenplay Competition, for their script Hell to Pay, and his comedy script Time Helmet is a quarter finalist for the Academy Nicholl Fellowship.
Mike began in the industry as a storyboard artist for MTV’s Aeon Flux, and continued his work in animated television as a production designer on ReBoot. Before working in film, he was well-known as an illustrator for sci-fi games, including Battletech and Shadowrun.
